PEZ Fan Art

It's time for a some candy art again.
Every once in a while I like to do some
sweets, and this one is long overdue... PEZ.

Originally it was a digestive aid but then
it was converted to a candy product.
I love it's unique brick like shape.

When I can, I take macro pictures, so I had to order some PEZ of course.
Now I have an intimate understanding of the shape and texture,
as well as a raw spot on my tongue from eating too many.

The material is image based, built from a piece of a macro image.

I‘m also a Fan of this PEZ sweet & sours, made by pressure like a pill.
The most attraction they get from the various spending machines. (Hint!)

But the very first thought I get by your picture is… a toilet stone! 😅

Interesting observation. That would be a hard sell for a candy maker, the smell of PEZ emanating from bathrooms.

I did some bump mapping for some reason, not that I'll ever need it,
but after seeing the surface of the PEZ is not so smooth I had to try.

Grape, cherry and lemon. I still need orange and strawberry but I didn't get those in my order.

 Trivia: The original ones were peppermint. The brand name PEZ being a sort of syllabic acronym of the German equivalent term, Pfeff-Er-min-Ze.

Yeah - we were already in the historic catacombs of Vienna´s 20th century with Eduard Haas III at reply #7+8
That´s why I wonder why it´s not transferred into PeppErminT in US. I guess it´s because otherwise people might think the things have a furry taste.

Here's another, more cinematic slo-mo 60/40 clip.
Popup tutorial:
•Set fps to 60 or higher
•Bake Dynamics in the dynamics properties panel.
•Study results along time line and place camera or cameras.
•Render clip an save as ProRes4444
•Open in Photoshop go to -Layers/Video Layers/Interpret Footage
•Set -Footage Frame Rate to 24 or no less than 40% of original fps to avoid being choppy.
•Drag the end of the clip out as far as it will go because it's now longer.
•Go to -File/Export/Render Video
•Change Preset to -High Quality and Frame Rate to 24 or whatever was calculated.
•Render Video

:) Cool. Funny how the last green one seems to jump towards the camera - what a bummer it doesn´t reach the upright stand in the very last moment..
(Hollywood still relies on 24FPS)

The luck of the draw/drop.

If I was doing this professionally for PEZ I would have had to reBake over
and over with possibly minor changes to get that lucky one in a million shot.

This time I wanted to recreate an intense video game type experience...with candy.

Looks like Cheetah renderer - consider Falcon to render with motion blur next time.
(You can bake the simulation and put the last one on a spline track. Natural looking wouldn´t be easy but doable I guess)
