Decorated pig

I think we both have the same material. We just don't have the same material as shown in the image!

Send the page.

It might have a lot to do with the settings. Could be we have the same material, although I may have changed mine.

Christmas Pig

Hi,
My turn... As a true newbie, I don't pretend to compete with all awesome textures found here. Anyway, I found my contribution funny enough to dare this post. The material is a true mess and could be optimized.
Well, probably it should have been better 2 weeks ago...

Hi guys! Is there a good leather material in this lot? I had a brief look but couldn't see one.

what kind of leather? any reference?

I don't think I've seen procedurals still but I got a couple of good seamless textures if you wanna go the image-based way, or you can check yourself at CGtextures or similar...

while I'm here... a couple of new "real world" materials (Granite needs to be properly scaled - 0.5 on xyz for the pig - Ice9 will need some adjustment depending on the scene and lighting... ):

I wonder if I'll ever be able to digest the information provided in this thread.

THANKS A LOT, it really helps getting into the subject. :icon_thumbup:

leather and ice

Hi guys! Is there a good leather material in this lot? I had a brief look but couldn't see one.

now there is a leather mat
maybe with direct light you have to kill the reflection and adjust the specular.

@ alessandro:
nice clear ice from the water pond :icon_thumbup:
i tried to make snow recently but was unable to fake the sss for white general bodies, what resulted was this aged ice instead...

excellent leather, Archie! :icon_thumbup: I'm gonna use it for sure, thanks for sharing

ice3 actually looks like wet snow... so it's not far from what you were searching for ;) - did you unsubdivide the mesh or is it a material effect?

I did some experiments in faking SSS a while ago (do you remember TerryG's caramel?) and (unintentionally) found some funky fx... now I got renders but can't remember the settings. maybe I'll put together something to post in the general section later...

cheers,
Alessandro
