UV editing - what is it?

I'm not a modelling expert, and Cheetah has this "UV" thing. I looked on the Features pages on the website and the abbreviation isn't explained. If I at least knew what UV stood for I'd stand a better chance of researching it...

Bought Cheetah yesterday to do some product boxes. Works great! Thanks for the sample box file, it gave me a great head-start. The more useful samples there are, the better!

Hi,
UV coordinates are 2D coordinates like (0,0). They assign every 3D vertex point of your mesh a position on the texture. See image below.
