Passe-partout Rendering the dirty way.

Passe-partout Rendering the dirty way.

Here´s a quick and dirty way for rendering just parts of your image, either to check a special area without rendering the whole format over and over again or for adjusting the camera under some aesthetic rules or whatsoever.
Goal is to place a plane as a child object in front of the camera, make an inner extrude, delete the centered polygon and assign a solid color (Grey will render faster than white) to it with a render tag with everything unchecked except "Visible for primary rays:"
You can place splines in the same manner in front of your camera to align its view to some special requirements like the "golden ratio" for instance. To render your final image disable your passe-partout from rendering, splines won´t render anyway.

Cheers
Frank
