Architecture w/ demo

I'm still educating myself with the tryout version, but Cheetah3D is quickly ascending my "to buy" list. I thought I'd post my first real attempt at output.

The model was built by my genius coworker; I just brought it home to play with.

1. SketchUp model and textures
2. FBX out w/ textures, triangulate everything (53.9 MB, ouch!)
3. Import. Scale and origin seem good -- no tweaking
4. Position camera, turn off camera light, 1600 x 800 px, 1x/4x oversample
5. Add one parallel light, position, tweak color and shadow color, set rt shadows
6. Add radiosity / ambient occlusion tag, default settings
7. Render, 939.34 seconds on 1.67GHz Powerbook G4 while browsing internet w/ Safari

Yes, the ground is missing -- I think it's a polygon normal issue in Sketchup (flat plane pointed down).

For a first attempt, I say WOW :shock: . I would love to see this model with a nice HDRI skyprobe!! 8) Keep up the modelling and show us more!!

Thanks. Again, the model was built by a coworker and since Cheetah3D makes setup so easy I didn't have to do much. :)

Mmmmmm..... HDRI. I'll have to give that a try.

That's a beauty. Get the glass reflecting a bit and you'll really have something there. Nice work.
 
thanks for the procedural details (?), cause I was just wondering why a test model from SU hadn't shown any textures in Cheetah.
