Importing Modo files

Importing Modo files

Hey, I have downloaded the demo version of modo and it does not have a built in renderer. I tried to export my file as a .obj file but when I import it into C3D it loses all of its materials and sometimes the subdivisions disappear off my object. I think its because when you export an object in modo as a .obj file it saves the material in a separate text file that C3D can not read.
Is there a better way to do this?

Hi orbit,
you are right that Cheetah3D doesn't import materials from .obj files yet.

Why the subdivision gets lost is not a Cheetah3D problem because no subdivision information is saved in .obj files. There is probably somewhere in Modo an switch which determins if you save the cage or the subdivided mesh into the .obj file.

I've checked out the export options in Modo and at the moment .obj seems to be the best solution. The .obj materials (.mtl) import is already on my todo list.
