Hiding parts of mesh during weight painting

The foot of my mesh overlaps, so I made my selection to focus on the part of my mesh and hide the rest...

But as soon as I try to paint on weights, it shows all parts of the mesh again...

Any possible work around this?
 
I`d be surprised if there is a method to hide geometry effectively for that purpose as you can still ring+ loop-select hidden parts of the mesh If I recall correctly. (Will check later when back in studio - Yep - the problem still exists). I`d bend the joints and leg mesh before binding to clear the overlap in point mode with soft-selection and Gadget-Mode.
