Possible to scale (in properties) in one direction?

Hi guys!

Any way of scaling in one direction? I have set the pivot to the top of an object and want to scale only the Y-axis "downward" but it seems to go both up / down when I scale it (by dragging the green scaler). Tried any combo with shift etc.

I know I can select the bottom part of the polys and drag with grids etc but trying to find the quickest way for me to work with 3D Prints.

Best would be to when in Properties to be able as in Photoshop to choose "where to go" (directional resizing of canvas).

Works with the Transform Tool.
Double click the center, turns blue. Then click to anchor to surface, edge or point. Double click to lock again and scale.
