New Cheetah3D user here =)

Hi people, I'm the new guy

I have just switched to Mac 3 weeks ago and since then I was searching for a decent 3D software to use. Wings crashes all the time, Blenders UI is just horrible and AC3D is not for me and has no animation and rendering (though the polygon reducer is somewhat useable). I then found out about Cheeta3D and it just rocks.
I'm developing games and currently I'm writing my own 3D game engine which will be free for Mac and a small donation :)rolleyes:) for the Windows version. It'll be scripted through LUA so it'll be write-once-run-anywhere. Problem is that I already settled on the Blitz3D file format and I really hope b3d support will come in after 4.0 ;)
I'm very ecited to see such good software exclusively on the Mac (for 2D work I use ChocoFlop which is also quite awesome) and have just bought the training DVD (can't wait it to arrive, why is Germany so far away from England?) to up my skills as fast as possible :icon_thumbup:

Edit: By the way, here's a download that might be usefull for some of you -> http://www.kudoscry.com/tex/tex.zip
It's a texture and normalmap pack made by me. It was meant to be sold on delgine.com http://www.delgine.com/texturepacks/viewTexturepack.php?catid=37&catdesc=KudosCry&contentid=9 but I never heard anything from the sites admins. So I'm giving away this texturepack for free (rather than having some people buying it and I won't see any money) and if you want to support me you can donate via PayPal to kudoscry [at] gamerarmy [dot] com! Feel free to use this pack in your commercial and not-commercial work!

Hi,
and welcome to the forum. I think .b3d is a good format to build a game engine around. From the feature set .b3d seam to be quite similar to .m3g (which the ChocoFlop developer "blackjack75" wished).

I also had an eye on LUA on my search for the perfect script engine. But I'm not a big fan of the LUA syntax. My favorite script engine at the moment is

http://www.angelcode.com/angelscript/

Anglescript is very C/C++ like and it is extremely easy to bind functions. Maybe you are interested to have an look on it.

Bye,
Martin

I use LUA at the moment because it is build into BlitzMax. But I know AngleScript and I'll take a look. Maybe I can build in both scripting languages.

After testing Unity and Torque Game Builder I pretty much gave up today. They're such great tools! I could never compete with them
