Unwrap UV Help?

Hi,

I'm a Cheetah3d newbie so go easy on me, in fact I'm new to 3d completely.

I've tried a couple of tutorials on unwrap uv (pig from the cheetah3d help and banana from antialias), yet whenever I unwrap uv I seem to get a completely different outcome to what it shows in the tutorial!!

Can anyone tell me where I'm going wrong? I've attached an image showing what happens when I unwrap uv on my banana model.

In the UV editor window right hand mouse clip and select Unwrap UV.

Thats what I have been doing but it doesn't seem to come out right??

Make sure you are only selecting the polygon object, not the polygon/subdivide modifier together. If in daught delete the subdivide modifier and re attach one later.
