Sweep on section of a spline?

Sweep on section of a spline?

Dearest forum

Today I'm thinking about 'Data travelling through cables and into equipment'.

So, I'm trying to work out how I can have a sweep that covers a section of a spline, this section would represent the outer cable.

In this way the data particles can follow the spline and I move the camera angle to see them enter the equipment.

Any thoughts?

Mine are:

a) Boolean the equipment shape from the Sweep.
b) Use two splines, one longer that the other (difficult to match)
c) Work out how to write the javascript to modify the Sweep.
