hair....again!

hair....again!

Hi All. I've had a dabble with cHair.js but to be honest I'm not getting anywhere fast:confused: I've only been able to find one tutorial on how to use this product but (in my opinion) the quality of film wasn't all that good so I can't make out what they are doing:frown: Can anyone point us to a tutorial out there that set's out the procedure for newer ones like me????:( I'm trying to put a beard on a character).

1) Add hair.js object as child of object you want to make hairy.
2) Create a new material and name it "hair here" (to make it easier to see what you're doing).
3) Set the material's diffuse color to something easy to see, e.g. red.
4) Select the polygons where you want hair and assign the material to them.
5) In the hair.js object's properties, check "only polygon selection" and select the polygon selection corresponding to the material (probably 1 if it's the only material).
6) If necessary, click the "update" button.

Hi,

for a beard, you could also try Terry's solution...

a modeled plane (softbody) with a partly transparent beard texture.

(I added an extremely ugly example ;))

Thanks for the those tips and examples. I've tried to add a beard to my model and, although he looks a bit like Rasputin the Mad Monk, I'll keep experimenting. I wouldn't have got any where if you guys hadn't helped me...ta very much.:D
