Hi Martin, the trees are made with arbaro.
The octocore arrived this morning and I did a quick render test (the fakeindigo test from a while ago). The quadcore did it back then in 23sec (version 4.2 = 17 sec) and octocore did it in 9 secs!. It is very cool to see 8 buckets running across the screen :-D. I'll render the one with the trees tomorrow and see what time it gives. BTW. can you give any word on networkrendering in the future? :) That would be great!!

Regards,

Peter

8 sec. sounds great. That is more than twice as fast as the quad core. So it looks like Cheetah3D scales quite well on the Octo core.

Do you have the CHUD tools form Apple installed? If yes you should be able to turn off 7 cores of your Octo Mac within the systme preferences window. It would be interesting to see how Cheetah3D scales form one core too 8 cores.

Bye,
Martin

So you're gonna have to change you're signature now. How about, "Cry out in agony all you other modellers! I've got an octocore and a quacore. Shrivel and die! Bwa ha ha ha ha ha!!!!

I'm very happy for you! :)

Awesome QTVRs Peer, your clients must be really impressed!

Is the tree in the courtyard a solid model? Care to share - or is it copyright?

The octocore arrived this morning
... you lucky, lucky man.

Thanks for the nice words.
Here's the tree, it's a very simple tree I think it came from Sketchup. You can create better trees with Arbaro or Vue. Link to Tree

Regards,

Peter

PS. Martin, I didn't have time yet to try your rendertests with the different number of processors.
