A Trubute to Massimo Vignelli
This thread is meant to be a tribute to the late Massimo Vignelli,
who's designs have been seen by millions of people,
people that don't even know who he is.
Together with his wife Leela, he has achieved a huge legacy
of design that will continue to endure for many years.
Some of his clients include Ford, Bloomingdale's,
American Airlines, Knoll and the NYC subway map.
Massimo's designs favor clarity, and as I was taught, you only
need a handful of type styles, he heavily favored Helvetica.
This is my take of his famous mug, originally successful until it was released in the US, where people fill there cups to the brim.
They are still available now, with the trough into the handle blocked off, The original design is a collectable now.
My design change simply entails cupping the saucer
so at least the spill wont end up on your clothing.
Feel free to post your Massimo tribute here.
