Sky light

Hi,
When I saw this scene, I thought that it would be a good case to test the new sky light.
So, here is the screenshot of the Sketchup scene + the same scene rendered with Cheetah3D 4.2b5 with ONLY 1 sky light and the radiosity tag. I think this came out fairly well and demonstrated again that the new lights are easy to use and efficient.
Comments are welcome.

Wow. Photorealistic. Skylight is awesome.

That's a sweet model, too. Makes me wish I had the full version of Sketchup, but I'm too cheap.

Good job!

Thank you very much to all of you for your comments. But I just pressed some buttons ... ... the real guys are dandis (the designer of the scene) and Martin for this great software.

I have always wanted to do a warehouse

Luke,
Here is your chance ... ... With your expertise, I am sure you can do a lot better. If you want and if your time allows it, feel free to give it a try

I dunno, Francois...I think you got that pretty spot on, it would take some beating, the sketchup model is very good with some very good textures which you have highlighted pretty damn well.

I would post on the sketchup site, it would make a few users weep (especially the ones on pc's) :)

Regards

Luke

Hi Francois, love the atmosphere of this render very industry I think the lighting and textures really make the scene.

Post it at the SketchUcation site Francois. They need a Cheetah thread started in the rendering section. This image will knock their socks off.

Is there a way to soften the edge of the sunlight with the new Skylight? I took a quick glance, but did see a way to do it.

Hi Jake,
Glad to see you back here as I think you can bring a lot too, to C3D. Thanks for your comments and the link. Yes, good idea, I will post there too. And to be honest, that's a forum I was not following until now. But after a quick look there, you have some pretty nice images in there !

Regarding softening the edges, I don't know yet. Still experimenting with it. But I'm sure Martin can help us on this and give us the right answer

Hi.
This is a go with just 1 pointlight and radiosity.

With kindest regards
Frank

Allright, Frank, that is it ! Superbe !:icon_thumbup: :icon_thumbup:
Except it's a point light instead of the Sky light to get the soft shadows.

Maybe you could post it here too as Jake was suggesting, just to knock off more socks

How big and how long Frank? I like the edges of the light better, but I like the light quality on the back wall better in Francois's image.

The light is to close to the window Frank, imo it doesn't look right.

That looks really nice Frank. I kinda agree with Innerdreamrecords [get a shorter name :) ] though. The rays don't seem parallel based on the different angles of light on the floor. Maybe it's the POV or the wide angle of the lens.
