When You Select Something in the 3D View, Also Select It in the Object Browser

Right now, if you select an object in the 3D view, it's only selected in the Object Browser if it's visible (i.e., its parent is expanded). If the object's parents are collapsed and the object is not visible, the Object Browser does not show the object as selected. I wish that when an object is selected in the 3D view, it's always shown in the Object Browser, its parent(s) automatically expanded as necessary to show the object.

Have you tried "Reveal in Object Browser" already?

Cheers

No, that's new in Cheetah 7 (I just upgraded). It'd still be nice if it just did that automatically, and save the extra step. I can't think of a reason I'd ever NOT want the object to be selected in the browser.

Because you don´t want to expand massive hierarchies by default which you have to close manually. (In this case use alt-key to open or close entirely stacked hierarchies.)
