Thanks for including your "Damascus" matt Zoo.
I think your creation is ingenious.

This proved to be a good learning experience for me.
Although the metal is a little too dark I'm happy I was able to get this far.

Should I make any Renderer property changes?

I am not going to try to make the knife.
What I was most interested in was creating the reflection of the wood spindle on the metal.
