Search objects and add material

Hi all -

I have a lot of objects with the same name, ie "cylinder" and want to change the name to something else. I can search for them so only these objects show in the browser, but is it possible to change the names in one hit?

* Select subset in object browser
* Rename in properties panel
* Result: All selected objects are renamed, unselected objects are not affected.
