Are you really in the need of real geometry? I had a go with an image textured high-poly 1:2 plane and the wrap-mod + morph-tag:
The values at the wrap-modifier differ due the aspect ratio of the plane BTW.
Hey Frank that looks good and can be a nice light way of going about it (and in the past I have used wrap modifier on images). But I'm bringing this asset into Element 3D for an After Effects project and it is interacting with other 3D elements (such as a plane flying around it). Also - Element 3D dosen't deal with transparency from a PNG that well and can be a bit finicky.
Anyway I have it all working now to my satisfaction.
