Putting a Hex on a Plane

OK all seriousness aside, this is the fastest way to Hex a flat Plane.

Start with a Plane. (Duh)

When you Shear - is there a measurement for that or just your eyeball? This is an amazingly succinct and direct approach - Thank you!

Hi Rene, I do it by eye but there is a trick.
In front view with the object set to isopram or wire and the
Transform tool selected, you can line it up pretty well.

Also a slight adjustment may be required on the final form.
I usually have to scale down the "Y" dimension a little.

Thanks

Further playing reveals there is a proper setting of 0.5 for the Shear Modifier,
and just to reiterate, you have to scale the height down to .8667 for a perfect hex.
