G5 Video Card Query

I've a Power Macintosh G5

1.6 GHZ
80GB HD
1.25GB RAM

I;d like to know what would be the best AGP card for my G5, in relation to using Cheetah3D.

Hi,
I haven't tested other graphics cards in a G5 so I don't know how big the speed difference is.
But normally Cheetah3D is more CPU bound then graphics card bound.

But I might be wrong. As I said, I made no tests. I personally was always quite happy with my ATI 9600.

Are you sure you want to spend that much when you may win the lotto and go out and buy the new Mac Pro... :D:D

I use a 15" Powerbook 1.5Ghz with 1Gb RAM and it seems fine... obviously not as fast as the new Intel macs but OK

Hi,
but be aware that the graphics card has absolutely no influence on the rendering speed. Just on the 3D preview.

I would not expect the graphics card to make any significant benefit outside the preview window. Rendering is a CPU intensive task.
