Cheetah3D 5.7 Beta 2

Cheetah3D 5.7 Beta 2

Hi,
here is the first beta version of Cheetah3D 5.7. The biggest change in this new version is probably the new preferences window and the support for exporting animation data to Collada files. But also the possibility to load camera animations from PFHoe Pro (via FBX) should be a great addition to Cheetah3D.

http://cheetah3d.com/download/Cheetah3D5.7b2.zip

Since this is beta software please don't use it for important work or data.

Please post bugs or problems you encounter with this beta version in this thread.

Attention: Cheetah3D 5.7 copies the render history to
"~/Library/Application Support/Cheetah3D/Render History"
So older version won't find the render history anymore. I decided to do that since some clean up tools tend to delete the render history in its original folder "~/Library/Caches/Cheetah3D/temp" were is was before.

just tested (not that I don't trust you...): the "big-hdri-loading-bug" is now gone and loading time seems quite reduced to me... that's a huge improvement for me, thanks!

cheers,

Hi Martin,

Awesome! I see a list of many improvements of features I often use the most and did notice, some more than others.

The scaling of joints was of concern with the IK handles, so I'll take a look when I have 5.7 downloaded.

I'm interested in seeing the new Target Tag features, as my animations value the target tags in almost every scene. Thanks!

Non stoppable animation was another question I was going to mention, but you already addressed it.

The new preferences should be great. Thanks for all you do to improve Cheetah 3D Martin!:icon_thumbup:

real fast beta update martin!!

this might sound silly to others, but i'm glad to have bottom & top color in the view. makes it easier to distinguish and get to back to proper orientation if i rotate the cam too wildly. :D

any idea/peeks whether we are going with 5.8 or directly to 6 after this? ;)

5.7 Beta Feedback

Hi Martin,

I don't know if you want beta feedback in this thread, but here you go.

Key command for Render no longer works. Previously it was "Command R" on my keyboard (aka "Apple R").

Thanks for the beta.

Mark Edwards

Hi Mark.
Cmd+R still starts the render engine - do you have another function mapped to that key combo? Check your preferences.

Cheers
Frank

<do you have another function mapped to that key combo?>

Nope. I can assign it, but it's not assigned by default (maybe I assigned it myself in 5.6?).

I think Martin should take the hotkey from the main "Render" menu as it is now configurable by user.

Cheers
