Hi,
Here is one scene render Test_Scene_Ando model data with C3D.
A sky probe jpeg file as hdri: power 1.500
Radiocity intensity:2.500
Distantlight intensity:0.750
antialiasing mode:edge
oversampling pass1:4x

Why walls and ceiling came uneven?
I cannnot find a resolution. Any help?

regards,
Macjijii

Hi,
the only property which could help reduce noise in such a highly indirect light scene is the "samples" property of the radiosity tag. Increasing it will improve the rendering results.

Macjijii,

I've been looking for this scene since I saw it on the Maxwell and Indigo forums. Could you share the scene please? I really would like to give it a go aswell and I'll post my results here if you like?

regards,

Peter

Here's my shot at it.
I think it's a little dark but maybe some PS work could fix that.
It rendered for about 1h20mins.
Radiosity settings included.
I added a ground texture with a little reflection.

Regards,

Peter

Hi Macjijii,
thanks for the sharing the file. I've downloaded it and will use it as a test scene.
I'm already working heavily on improving the renderer. So you can expect better results and performance for these typs of scene in the not the distant future. Probably in Cheetah3D 3.3.

samples...

Dear Macjijii

Martin is so right... up the samples to 3200 and the result is much nicer

Luke

>Hi Martin,
I'm very happy to hear you're working hard to improve rendering.

>Hi Peter,
Nice rendering.
Even you set samples to 1000, still uneven a little bit, don't you think?

>Hi Luke,
I also tried increasing samples, but lost the detail around window.
Don't you think we can get a good result such this high contrast scene only using C3D?

Macjijii

Dear Macjijii
I guess it means a bit more tweaking with the hdr background and sunlight to get the detail back into the window !?

Luke

Dear Luke,
It's dificult to explain with my poor English ability, but I will try.
The shot of mine you can see the flame and shadow of terrace window(big opening right side). When I increase samples, the opening turns to white off rectangle. I hope we can render such a highcontrust scene using only Cheetah3D without loose detail in not so long rendering time.
This is what I want to say.

Macjijii

Looking great folks. Nice work. Good resource for those wondering about radiosity and Cheetah.

Edited:

Well hell, everyone else is doing it so I turned up the samples even higher and it turned out pretty darn good. Took an hour, but not bad.

thought i would give this ago as well
distant light 1.250
radiosity 2.250
hdri 3.000 which was a single jpeg image converted to a 32bit image in photoshop(whether it has the same effect as a true hdri, not sure).

The thing i had trouble achieving was creating more light at the front of the steps as you achieved in your image Jake, without burning out the image.Wondering whether you used more than one light or maybe it has something to do with the hdri.Any tips would be great.

cheers Steve.
