Directional material

Directional material

Where can I get more information on the Material= "directional"?
It's in the pull down menu in the Add material section.

Hi,
sorry it is not documented. But I think it's quite easy to figure out how it works with some tweaking of the parameters.

Hi Martin, I would like to export Cheetah 3d designs to Blender because unfortunately Cheetah 3d does not run on Linux. How can I export the files WITH Material: Special/ Directional so that they are also displayed in color in Blender?

You can bake the shader into an image texture with ambient light - Your Object needs proper UVs to do so. Not sure if this makes sense or you need a similar shader set up over there. Depends on your lighting situation methinks.

The directional material just uses colors to indicate normals.
Instead of exporting a material you can achieve this inside Blender with the Texture Coordinate node Normal output routed via Separate XYZ and Combine Color nodes into the shader color.
(Blender import may rotate objects and assign different normal directions.)
