Cheetah installation

Hello all,
Newbie over here.

Installed cheetah on OS X Tiger.
Is it normal to have the disk image on the desktop??

My copy is a registered version (if it matters)

Copy/drag the Cheetah3d folder from the disk image to your Applications folder. You can trash the .dmg file if you want. In the Cheetah3d folder that you just copied is the application itself along with some examples etc.

I did a copy and drag with same result, disk image appears when I open cheetah.

Drag / dropping cheetah icon works but not the help file.
I ended up creating a cheetah folder in my app folder and drag / drop all the cheetah files, so far no more disk images.

That´s exactly the way it works, because there is no folder on the disc image called Cheetah3d.

So have fun with Cheetah3d and let us see.
