Absolute beginner first model (need help)

Thanks for this fantastic application. Im just trying it out and am an absolute beginner and need some advice. I was pretty happy with how far I got so far (not being able to save yet hehe). THe metal on teh bottom of the cup is just not right and Im not sure at all how to do the environment, like a nice drop shadow and lighting. Can anybody help out?

very nice first model. :D

For doing a metal you could check out the Paw.jas example file which come with Cheetah3D. There you can see how to make a metal. The important thing is that you need some environment textue or even better a HDRI texture which can be reflected in the metal.
The Paw.jas example uses a HDRI texture for example.
