I built this model with FreeCad, imported it into Cheetah as an obj file, and lowered the smooth angle to 30.

Nice! BTW, I picked up a book on Mechanical drawing in the weekend from a secondhand bookstore. What caught my eye was how to draw threads and gears. When you model a screw/bolt thread, how accurate to you make it?

Thanks Chris, when I want real industrial standards I use FreeCad with the Fasteners workbench installed.
It includes every type of nut bolt screw nail washer and more. Plus every standard you can think of.

I can then import the bolt or whatever into Cheetah as an obj file.

Thanks, ZooHead, it's great to know that you are still providing these solutions and ideas! Last night, I was able to converse with Google AI, and it helped me create the basics for an aluminum foil storage and cutting box rendered in SCAD. I brought it into C3D from OpenSCAD, and hope to have it finished later today. Nothing as intricate as what you've shown, but it's still a way for someone like me to have some more options for creation.
