Having a single Node Material it's much easier to set up and control ...and the rendering is waaaay faster.

Most of what I've learned about Nodes can be found in the thread Cheetah 3D Node Math Exploration. I have a few newer things I should write up, including how you built your multi-color patterns up from a single grayscale image! That's going to be very useful.

My attempt ...

Procedural texture
Metallic setting on flakes (no emission)

Alternative:
Increased the ambient occlusion so that the flakes are not so bright in the shadows.

A subtle change, but I think it looks a little better.

I love all of your glittery metallic materials. I love glitter in general.
I've done things with nodes before, but I don't think I'll ever really understand it. So thank you all for sharing. I'm looking forward to making something with it sometime.
