Best practice: How to create Models for Adobe Dimension?

Hi folks

i try to use cheetah3D to create models for Adobe Dimension but i have a Problem:

Sometimes (mostly when i extrude a svg path) the placement of decals in adobe dimension failed. i try different formats for import and the results are different. STL-Files works but have ugly wrinkles (see screenshot - left object). When i use for example FBX the object quality is good but the decals are wrong (see screenshot right object). The photo has a strange edge on the surface where the decal stops and the wood texture is total strange).

Does here anyone here use cheetah3D for Adobe Dimension? Why this happens?

Tom

I'm afraid I'm not so good with UV mapping and the only
thing I could find that was wrong was the scale of one object
was not 1-1-1 which can cause problems but may not be related to your problem.

I'm sorry not much help at this point.

Hi ZooHead

you bring me to the solution!

i create a new UV mapper and bake it to UV1 and it works!

Now i just have some small questions
1) what is a UV-Mapper ;)
2) What is the difference between UV1 and UV2 (UV2 dont work in Dimension)
3) What makes the baking-thing?
4) whats the difference between the different mapping types?
5) what is the best proceder to create a UV-Mapper?

Hope anyone can help me :)

Tom

  1. The UV Mapper is a tool in the Tool menu Tool/UV/UV Mapper.
  2. Unsure. I don't use UV2.
  3. Baking is used for many different things, such as a pre calculation for dynamics, materials, and lighting.
  4. They are for use on different shaped objects.
  5. Depends on shape and what your trying to accomplish.
You can also Unwrap the UVs which is a more complicated way I am less familiar with.
