Soft Body Tag

This tutorial will demonstrate various settings of the Soft Body Tag using the same object for comparison.
The object file is included here to play along if you want.
You just need to add the Soft Body Tag to the object and change the settings accordingly.
With each example I'll include an image of the SB Tag Panel,
frame rate setting and the Dynamics settings.
Remember the Dynamics work only when the animation is running.
Different frame rate settings change the behavior drastically and
these examples start at 12 fps. So if you're final goal is animation you
may want 24 or 30 fps, so the examples at 12 fps will not behave as expected.
If you need still images, any frame rate may be used if it gets you what you want.
The Soft Body Tag is a deep moat to get lost in and this will just scratch the surface.

The parameter Pressure may be my favorite so far, so it's the first example.

Stiffness is set low and so is Mass although Mass
may have less effect here but go ahead and test. Added Note: I was wrong, Mass matters.

Dynamics Accuracy set to 8x.
Frames per Second 12

Hit the start button on the animation time line, and remember
rewinding to zero will reset to the "Initial State".
(Rewinding to zero will also put the document in an unsaved state even though nothing has changed)

This one uses the Soft Body Tag's default settings.

This is a good starting point. Observe it's behavior with the fps setting your using,
in this case 12 fps, and from there you can determine what changes
to make to get the action you require. Have some fun with it.

Is there a way to just use gravity with SB? Or, do you always need an effector of some type like the sphere in your examples.

The SB is anchored to the sphere and the sphere is animated.
You can't animate the SB object itself.
I haven't been using any effectors yet.
So it is just gravity.

If you turn on the animation and then grab the sphere
and move it, the SB will move and jiggle.
You may need to lengthen the Take.

I did do some experiments on a character, but I can't seem to find it. It was very basic.

The morph tag would be good for basic muscle movement, too.

Here's one for fun. Inflation deflation.

Soft Body dynamics is used on a sphere on top of a box with a Rigid Body Tag.
The inflated and deflated states are captured with a Morph Tag and then with
the dynamics tags shut off the Morph Tag is used to keyframe the animation.

Added Note: The dynamics is set up for 12 fps but the animation was done at 24 fps.

This one is done with a partial torus shape done at 24 fps.
Originally set to render with the Shadowmat, which will only
work in the Cheetah Renderer, and then changed to render
in Falcon for the better HDR setting choices.

You can get the HDRI 'caylay_ interior_4K.hdr' from HDR Heaven if you want.

PS: The HDR light is rotated slightly, no problem unless you want the background visible.
