Efficient Keyframing for FBX Export of Spline Tracking Animation?

I have a mesh following a spline by key framing the Position property of the Spline Tracking tag. This works just fine in C3D, but it seems that the FBX file format knows nothing about "spline tracking" per se, as the spline tracking animation is lost after opening the FBX file in C3D.

If, however, I keyframe the position and rotation of the mesh itself as it travels along the spline, then the FBX file contains the animation. The only problem is that it takes ALOT of keyframes. Is there a way to "automatically" generate keyframes for the mesh as it travels along the spline? C3D's auto-keyframing doesn't work in this context. Instead, I have to manually advance frames and then record. Due to the nature of the spline curve, a keyframe is required nearly every frame. Needless to say this is quite tedious!

Am I overlooking a better approach?
