Thanks guys, this is the fun part of design, the not so fun part comes
when I have to return to reality and start to make compromises.

The hinge latch system is probably the first idea to eliminate.
It's going to be a big engineering manufacturing problem.

Back to the old piano hinge I guess,
but I'll still try to design the system for fun.

Here's some feet and bumpers added.

Thanks Al, it's coming along nicely.

I think I figured out how to actually make the hinge/latch system work.

The case just needs extra clearance with some high heels.

Thanks Terry, that means a lot coming from you.

When I first found Cheetah I remember seeing your pirate
and hoping I could create characters like that some day.

I still find it much harder to do what you do, but I keep watching you and learning.

Thanks for that nice compliment, Zoo. The pirate would have been way off limits when I started Cheetah, I was terrible. :p I've tried to do what you do a few times but I never get it right, so I gave up.

If I was going to say anything about creating cartoons in 3D it would be, forget the cartoon and concentrate on the shape. Once the shape is manageable, then pull it about and tweak the cartoon. Some times it might help to just block out the shape first, use that as the sketch and build over the top of it. The heads I'm really talking about.

Good luck and keep up the great work. :icon_thumbup:

I believe you need a lock somewhere. ;)
(and maybe consider to rise up the logo towards the top of the case)

Cheers
Frank

Ah yes, thanks for reminding me, a lock is in the works.

I like the logo in the same location as the Fender case, lower
right, but because the lid will be reversible...Ring Modifier.

Then on to the inside.

Alternatively this could be the starting point for a quadruple-beaked steampunk-style vulture bot  :D

Apart from that I agree with the others, great job with the casing so far :icon_thumbup:

Thanks miso, that's quite an imagination you have, I can see it now.

Thanks Terry, great tips, they'll help when I get the urge to try again.

Here's a shot of the lock.

I forgot, I can't make the lid reversible because of the "feet".
