PBR testing

PBR testing

I'm testing out the new PBR material node.
Seems to be all image based, but the results are pretty good.

All done with free PBR materials from freepbr.com

I used the Cheetah renderer while setting up
and the final is Rendered with Falcon.

New setup using Frank's tutorial.

Looks good but my preview looks terrible.

This is normal behavior, I was using the Base Color image directly
into the Diffuse Channel which lets you see the preview.

Once you add a node in between, no more preview.
Some materials may render similarly either way.

I think you can ignore the ambient occlusion mask and connect the base color image directly.
From what I've read Unreal engine is a real time renderer and doesn't do indirect lighting as precisely as Falcon does, hence the occlusion map for faking shadows of fine details.

But imho the displacement modifier with the height map makes the whole thing look real.

I'll have to try the displacement modifier.

On the rock I increased the intensity of the image on
the bump channel, which increased the bump height.

The AO doesn't seem to change the image very
much so I agree, but I'll probably keep trying it.

I´d say there´s a noticeable difference:

Cheers

Well, I'll keep using it because it's easy to unplug the Image
Node from the Mix Node and plug it into the Diffuse Channel.

I animated the Displacement offset and the
Bump Intensity using the same image for both.
