Select an object and hide selection - not working?

hi folks,
I'm trying to select an object then click hide selection to hide it. Nothing is getting hidden - am I doing it wrong? Nothing is happening - bug?

Any ideas? All I want to do is hide a group/object so that I can work on the part behind it.

What exactly are you doing?
Cheetah3d hides just polygons or whole objects or sets groups via Layers etc.
So usually you select polygons then go->Selection->Hide Selection.

Thats exactly what I'm doing. I simply select an object, then hide selection. But its not hiding.

Today I made an extrusion from spline - but this time no back/front faces. No idea why this is so because I have done this many times. I also opened a new file to make new spline & extrude, this time it is OK so my technique is correct.

I really am wondering if the installation is bad, because the behaviour is not consistent.

I doubt that like I said in the other thread.
Splines have to be closed for front&back cover and for hiding polygon selections we need "real" polygons - make your parametric objects and extrude-creator objects "editable" first.
