ZooHead's Tool Tips

ZooHead's Tool Tips

I'm going to put any tips I can find for Cheetah's various tools in this thread.

Transform Tool's Gadget Mode

If your model is at a weird angle, some operations become more difficult.

If I want to extend one of these odd angled cylinders, the Transform Tool's
Gadget Mode with it's Orientation set to Normal is a great way to go.

Here's another similar tip, instead of extending, we're squaring off the end.

I should point out this Tool Tip is for v7.0b19.

It can still be done in other versions, except for snapping to
Component, if the component is part of the active selection.

In beta 19 this has been fixed.

View Cameras

Due to all the testing I've been doing with regards to
the View Cameras, I had to make a new tool tip.

I made a mockup of Cheetah's View cameras
with a good size Gummie Guy Model.

Thanks Zoo. I was embarrassed to say for some reason I just couldn’t understand what was meant by Clipping.
Thanks to you now I understand it.

Blessings

Great tips, Zoo. Please keep them coming. You're presentation technique is well-honed – quick and clear.

Thanks, most of my previous tutorials involved modeling
something, this series focuses on tools and techniques.

I also welcome jamming. (JAM: Just Another Method)
If anyone has a method or technique I didn't cover,
please feel free to join in, the more the merrier.

Fill Hole Tool Behavior

This Tool Tip is about the Fill Hole Tool and how to work with it's particular behavior.
Most of the time there's no problem, however in some instances you may find it quirky.

But it's really not a problem, if you understand it better.
This is a new discovery I made, which makes it all work fine.

I also made use of various display modes including Global Wireframe,
which is great because it reveals things you sometimes can't see anywhere else.

Great tip! Makes it easy to see mistakes, Hey Zoo do you know how to tell if you have messed up the cover tool by forgetting to undo twice? I do this all the time and then find out too late.

Glad you found that work around 'ZOO'...!!!

It's much better than the alternative methods.

Cheetah gives feedback, but sometimes it's subtle, in this case the
edge loop is darker. But the Optimize Tool will now take care of it.

Playing with the Mirror Tool

The Mirror Tool should not be overlooked, although I often use the
Symmetry Modifier, I've found this tool has some unique features.
