Planet 51 Design Challenge

Planet 51 Design Challenge

Hi there,
how about recreating some Buildings, Cars or Props from the Movie Planet 51?
The design is simplyfied and round like a Toonworld but materials and light give a real look.
Show me yours ;)

A great start! Keep it up, and if you upload the models, we can all take a closer look.

Here's the beginning of my Planet 51 version of a Segway.

Cool Terry, I like the "jelly bean" bricks.

I added more details to my Personal Transport Unit.

Great one Zoo!
I'm sure if you try to sell this at ebay, someone is bidding! :D

You're right Terry, I always try to create things from one mesh like for game props.

Thank's for the files guys, I'll have a look and learn this weekend!

I was just playing around a little and ended up with a Planet 51 umbrella.

Power Pump

I'm on a roll so, here's a preview of a "Power Pump", another element I'll use in a scene.

Oh this brings back pleasant memories Zoo.
How did you accomplish the birds eye type mirror effect and the
red reflection of the pump base on the circular metal top?

My Best Regards
Jeanny

Thanks Al, the Planet 51 images really got my creative juices flowing.
I've got to get a copy, I still haven't seen it.

Hi Jeanny, the floating Flying Saucer shape is easy.

At the end I add a Subdivision Modifier set to Stam-Loop level 3.
(Stam Loop is more friendly to the triangles in the sphere)

The blue lines are Creases, to keep sharp corners, as you know.

Finally add a metal material.

Thanks Zoo
You and other Cheetah experts on this forum make things so much easier
than any approach I would have tried . . . and it would not have turned
out as nice.

My Best
Jeanny

The operational details slowly come to mind.

Every vehicle has an "extension cord" to plug into the Power Pump.
