Universal 3d (.u3d) file type - for 3d PDF

Anyone have any way to work around not having Photoshop Extended to make a .u3d file type? I just have the basic Photoshop that comes with CS5 Design Standard, which won't let you work with 3d files. I'd like to be able to embed a 3d file in a pdf. As I understand it, this is the format that Acrobat needs to embed the 3d file inside. I tried adding a script in Blender that was suppose to do it, but it never showed up in the imported scripts section. I also tried meshlab and can't get it to work exactly right.

Here's the wiki page for the file type:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_3D

And some example pdf files from Adobe:

Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

S
