I'm experiencing an problem when I open files created in v.4.7 with v.5. Materials don't render as expected. If you look on the image attached you can see the difference in the reflection and specular on the tongue and teeth.
There's got to be a way of getting things rendered in v.5 the same way as in v.4 without doing any tweaking. |

v5.0 has completly different material system, so a bit tweaking should be expected.

everyone is struggling with this problem, especially with reflections, transparency and radiosity.
way faster, but a different look and feel. if you had accustomed yourself to the ways of cheetah before, you have to go through that again. in the end there will be more possibilities and flexibilities, but not here and now. |

I'm with Del Toro. It's one of the points I was making early on. The new material system doesn't come into play for older scenes. It's the way the rendering system and lighting work. Something has changed. I would love to hear someone say "do it over again" when they have to redo a huge scene full of textures and have a client waiting, all the while. Basically, in that case, you're forced to use an older version of Cheetah (and if you reinstall the old one, you'll lose your old texture links), or tell the client you can't make your deadline.

Yes, adjustments are necessary in the two versions for shaders. Wish there was a way to keep the original settings from 4.7 to 5.0. Very nice teeth by the way.

I figured it out. My bump map intensity was set at 1.0 by default. Once I set it back to 0.4 I got about the same result as in C3D v.4.7. Thank you all for your comments!
Cheers! |
