Can anyone lend me some tips/pointers/guidance (tutorials?) on how to make a simple boat hull shape? I'm am thinking along the lines of a smal 16-30' pleasure craft type- not a sail boat. Just the hull really.
I was hoping to use a bi-rail/rail extrude but can't find any equivalent in Cheetah 4.3. Tips? Tricks? Alternative logic? Thanks in advance... |

Hi.
There are so many ways to do that: Boxmodeling, spline patching via script. What do you prefer? Any sketch of your idea available, because I donīt know how a "small 16-30' pleasure craft type boat" looks like? With kindest regards Frank |

This is n example of the form- without all the detail (nor the people and/or mountains).
I think I'll have to stick to box-modeling since I'm not a script-man...yet. Thanks again. |

Hi.
No wait, man. You donīt have to write a script. Thereīs already a loft-script in the scripting section you can use, when you like to use splines for that: http://www.cheetah3d.de/forum/showthread.php?t=1327 Further help needed? Hereīs a 5MB video of about 5min starting up the boat via boxmodelling. I can send it by request. Cheers Frank |

Oh- you beauty- after I got the script installed properly (didn't know it had to be placed in one the pre-existing folders in the script folder)- it ran like a charm. And it works with multiple polygons so I get exactly the form I want in the hull.
Thanks Frank. Now if only "they" could make a bevel script? |

Hi.
Ok. I like to see some progress on that (The pre-existing folders wonīt be overwritten by Cheetah3d-updates.) With kindest regards Frank |

Thanks- I think I figured it out with your loft.js script. Will come in handy in the future. Just wish you could control the divisions in one direction. Here is the finished result- finished enough to move it along to another program. It is only a conceptual model of a boat to be used in an even larger model of a boat show room and trade show.
Thanks again for the help. Dave |

Hi,
I am an extreme noob, having just d/l'd C3D to see if I can learn it to model a boat. So far, I don't seem to be able to do much of anything, but I am sure that watching a video would be a huge help. Can you email that to me? I think I have enabled my account to allow emails to be sent. Thanks, - Gardner Quote:

Sorry if this too simple a question, but how does the Loft script tool work? I think I might be missing the obvious...
