Problem when I hit the transform button

I recently purchased the beginners DVD. I am doing the first tutorial about polygons. When I click on the transform button, circles appear around the box, which I believe assist the box in rotating. On the tutorial video, this does not happen. I have closed the program and started new... and get the same results. My question is... how do I get rid of the two circles that remind me of an illustration of an atom??

On the top tool bar use the arrow icon - or which ever icon fits your need.

Those circles are normal. They came to assist you in handling objects with version 4.

The DVD was produced with version 3 of C3D.
