Leg rigging

Hi guys
I thought I'd share one of the solutions to leg-rigging that I've come up with so far. It seems to work quite well. I'd be interested to hear if anyone has a different or better way of doing this.
I've attached a file for you to check out.

Taking a leaf out of podperson's book (so to speak :) - great toon shading idea by the way) here is a brief outline of how the rig responds (this is included in the zip too):

This is great! Much better than what I'd come up with. I will have to apply the ideas to my own rig. Thanks.

Hi,
that looks like a really good and easy IK control. There are various ways (inverse foot control, etc.) to do it but yours work really well.

Bye,

Very cool. If you move the toe target closer to and lower than the ankle target, instant tiptoe:

It's been a while since I did some character stuff but I'm definately going to try this out, thanks Meshman.

This is the best rigging tutorial I've ever seen. It's for Blender but pretty much completely applicable to C3D. The way the feet work is absolutely brilliant.

If you can't be bothered reading it all, the leg rig ends at the ankle, then there is a toe bone and a foot bone -> ankle bone, with a heel target and a knee pole. This lets you pose the leg via IK and then pose the feet independently (tip-toes, etc.)

I know that this is an old thread, but WOW! - this is absolutely amazing!
Is this applicable on the entire characters body or is it leg only?

Here's a rig I've been working on. It's not perfect, but you get the idea.

In the Object Manager, Foot Control controls the entire foot (move and rotate). Toe Lift rotates and Heel Lift Rotates.
