Default OFF: can anybody help to translate .max file to 3ds? - 26.05.2007, 22:59

Hi, I have bought a model from turbosquid, but it is in a .max format, can anybody save it as a 3ds for me, so I can use it? Or at least to point me to the an appropriate way to peform it by myself. Any help will be appreciated.

I had the same problem. I loaded myself the demo from Max and converted with it all the objects I needed. It runs under WinXP in Parallels without any problem. All the other possibilities are too expensive. Don't forget to export in various formats, because of the problems (of Cheetah) with some 3DS-files. Iff possible use .fbx or .obj

When possible always use .fbx.

Assuming you have an Intel Mac it's pretty easy (BootCamp is free, Windows XP licenses are fairly easy to find).

Use the Parallels-Demo with Win XP (30 days without registering) and the Max-Demo (30 days). After it, delete completely with no costs... Trust me, it works.
Or search for a Windows-user and give him a task ..... (is any Windows user out there ..)

Good point, thanks! Though I have made the project without this particular model, it's good to have it for the future use. I will try to ask the author, since it's a task for one minute for him, actually.

Thank for the tip, if I'll have the same problem, I will try, but I agree with DaVinci about the windows stuff, it's so self-destructive...
