fbx import error

fbx import error

I received 2 files from turbosquid in fbx format that shutdown c3d when I try to import them.

I haven't had any trouble importing fbx files until these so I'm guessing they did something odd.

Can anyone tell me what I might try with these?

Thanks,
Mike Wheaton

I think there was something on this file that Cheetah does not support. Cheetah crash right away when i tried to open it.
This version should work.

Hi Mike.
Can´t tell about the reason for the crash. The FBX came from "SDK/FBX Plugins version 2009.3"
I fixed and preserved the motion capture animation data.
Maybe Martin should have a look into it.

Cheers

Crash while opening FBX

This fbx was created using C3D, it works perfectly in Unity but I cannot re-open it in Cheetah3d.

It is a simple place holder dummy geometry where I added few poses and few animations. I forgot to save the .jas file...:frown:

It is not a huge deal to make the dummy again, but would be interesting to know what might have caused this and if there is a way to recover?

Maybe Unity uses a different SDK than Cheetah3d.
Check the file please:

Thanks Frank,

Now it opens in C3D. But all the Poses are missing and Takes do not have any key/values. Does not matter, it was just place holder anyway.

Just curious, what is the normal process? If I have animations, I should use .jas?

edit: The animations are still there in Unity when I open the New version Frank sent.

Yes - store everything in the nativ Cheetah3d.jas file until you´re in the need to migrate somewhere - and do use export instead of "save as" - so you will generate a new independent file.
