Scale problem

Scale problem

I'm modeling a tutorial made by NoVolume but get scale problem.
First 3 pictures is what happens for me but what I want is the last picture.

What do I do wrong, I'm scaling with the center white "ball"?

Just scale the edge loop from picture 1.
In picture 2 you have already doubled polygons and the wrong edge loop is selected.
You don´t have to scale with the "center ball" of the transform-tool - as long you´re in scaling mode hold down shift+alt then click&drag somewhere in the 3d-view.

Cheers

Another new little tool tip revealed, I can't believe I didn't know this one!
Thanks Frank, you always surprise me with these.

Still don't get it.

I have the same edge loop selected as him.
Notice that when he press the white center ball it turns yellow but don't for me.

First picture is me, and second picture is him.

Also I have to learn the grip what's difference between extrude and cover.

forgot the pictures

Here they are

I´m not getting why you can´t simply scale the edge-loop; either hold shift+alt keys down then click&drag or while scaling is enabled and click&drag the center ball of the transform-tool. If this all won´t help try "Normal move" from the context menu till you get the same result:

Cheers

Here they are

It looks like you're in "move" mode with the manipulator...
After loop selecting, try clicking on one of the boxes to select the "scale" mode and then drag on the center ball of the manipulator (or use shift + alt + click & drag)...

edit: sorry looking at the first pictures, you know...
