Simple shape UV unwrap.

Simple shape UV unwrap.

Hi,

have a problem with a simple shape unwrap. After applying seams to a simple model (picture) and unwrapping the the UV's look like on the picture.

Any idea why?

:)

Hi.
I´m pretty sure there are too many seams.

With kindest regards

Hi.
I arranged the UVs of course.
When I pick up your file and just unwrap using your seams it should turn out this way:
Simply go in polygon mode, select all polys and call "Unwrap UVs".
How did you unwrap the box?

With kindest regards

:D

Now everything looks ok. I simply wasn't selecting the model in polygon mode but instead i was unwrapping in edge mode. I tried the polygon mode and it works great.

Thanx, Regards.

One more question

I do have one more question. Why are the unwrapped images stretched? The dimensions are not the same as the model?

Hi,
Cheetah3D uses the LSCM algorithm to unwrap meshes. LSCM tries to retain the angles between the edges but not the length of the polygon edges. This can cause some stretch.

But in your case you can easily scale the UV coords the transform tool to fix the problem. That's just a few mouse clicks of extra work.

Bye,
Martin
