My aircrafts

My aircrafts

Just to show you some of my aircraft models made in Cheetah3D for various flight sims. I really love this app. ;)

Quite impressive work. Good detail. Since you've created models in both Maya and Cheetah, which do you find more easy to create in?

Maya was my choice for a long time, I'm actually certified in 3ds Max. It was multiplatform, with good modeling and scripting tools but modifiers were only animation friendly. My student license expired and I couldn't afford it.

Cheetah3D has a good interface and tools for a reasonable price. It reminded me on Cinema4D which I used before. Few weeks ago I reinstalled Maya and compared two of them and I've concluded that I don't need it any more. Only thing I'm missing is a line slice tool for cutting poligons. UV mapping of several meshes on a single texture could be made better. ;)

I wouldn't recommend anyone buy Silo these days. It gets no updates — the only thing they've done in the last five years is fix egregious compatibility issues, and even then that's been after months of pleading by users.

Silo 3D remains a nice program, but with a small number of exceptions (line slice and booleans being among them) C3D has it beat these days. If you want clean booleans or good slicing, you can get them for free in Blender, and then quickly return to C3D for a usable interface.

Thanks, it's not bad for 16k polygons. This is just a quick look at the first livery. I'll have to play with materials and light to make more interesting render. Texture is made in vectors so new liveries should come soon. I guess I was in a hurry to put it for sale.

Aircrafts are most common motive in 3D work. I never flew or modelled a flying boat but I can try everything twice. :smile:

I've planned to model an AirTractor AT-802, Fire Boss version has floats.

My new project is BAE Systems Hawk T2. I'm still working on a model, for now it's about 12k polygons. Livery will represent Royal Australian Air Force;

That's nice :icon_thumbup:

I am still learning much to model my first aircraft, by the way here's the plane I'm interested in:

Look at the curves :rolleyes:

Thanks guys, I appreciate the support.

I had some issues with blueprints and subtypes of BAE Hawk (none of them was the T Mk2) so I had to make some changes on the model and I ended up with two models;

Hawk T1

Hawk T2

I must say this is one beautiful flying boat. I'm not a pre-WWII aviation specialist so I can't identify it. :smile:
