You could try rendering several overlapping views (changing the camera direction, not position) and then stitching the views together with some panorama software (eg PTgui). You'll lose some resolution when you stitch, so allow for this.
I've never tried this, but if you have any success, I'd be interested to know.
As for aligning the views, you generally need to allow each image to overlap the next by about 1/3rd of the frame. Maybe this would make a good topic for a scripting tutorial...
