bridge, fill or what?!

bridge, fill or what?!

I am working on a lamp. The base is made of glass with the top and bottom of metal. I started modeling with a cylinder, but now I need a tube (I want to give the glass a thickness or the refraction won't be right).

I've copied the base object, scaled it along the X and Z axes, flipped the normals, imported it as a child to the original base object, and now I cannot figure out how to fill the gap between them at both the top and bottom.

Any help much appreciated...

The Shell tool is what you want to use in this circumstance.

Select all the polygons of the original object, choose Shell tool, and click and drag to the desired thickness.

cheers, chuck
