Rendering time

Rendering time

Hello everybody,
I modeled a vase yesterday to try and create some materials, but, when I tried to render it, it took 28000 secs to render it up to the point you see in the below image. It's probably just my ignorance, but it seemed a bit strange to me, so here I am
Here are my computer specs:

Model Name: MacBook
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2 GHz
Memory: 1 GB
Bus Speed: 667 MHz
Below you can find the .jas file, too. Thanks for your help :)

You're running into problems caused by choosing lots of slow rendering options which each increase rendering time geometrically.

1. Skylight -- it's very easy to use, produces nice results, but it's SLOW.

Ideally, the skylight will one day be replaced by a procedural HDRI (Cheetah's IBL is quicker than the Skylight). Use HDRI + Radiosity instead -- or a distant light or area light if you want sharp shadows.

2. Blurred reflections with lots of samples.

These two renders took 75s and 177s on my Mac Pro.

As a final aside -- the procedural wood looks horrible. Much better to do some test renders with modest settings before you start tweaking the final render settings.

Thank you very much, podperson!

Here's my final result (in 27.35 secs :D)
