What happened to my HDRI's?

What happened to my HDRI's?

My two HDRI samples are showing black.
Can someone please help me?
What did I do?
How can I get them back?

I've attached what they look like in the C3D sample file.

Ha! I just noticed this on my system too - and then you've posted about the issue minutes later.

I think its an OSX thing. I'm on OSX El Capitan v10.11

I believe v10.11.1 is available, but haven had any time to check it out.

Please report back what version of OSX you are using.

Hi Shift Studio

I have OSX El Capitan version 10.11.1

Another issue I've been noticing is "Preview" keeps crashing on me.

I take a lot of screen shots of items to annotate and use as reminders and tuts.
A lot of times lately when I'm annotating or marking up the screen shot
"Preview" crashes on me thus taking the screen shot with it.

I also take a lot of screen shots so I can put a picture on the outside of the folder of what I have inside the folder.
If the folder is on my desktop and I try to change the picture I have on the folder
it changes in the body area of the folder's inspector but not the top area of the folders inspector . . .
nor does it change on the Desk Top folder's outside.

Please see attachment.

Hi,
I haven't noticed that yet but all my HDR textures turned black too. But don't worry, the textures aren't damaged, OS X 10.11 simply doesn't display them properly anymore. I hope Apple will fix that bug in one of the next updates.

The HDR textures should still work properly in Cheetah3D.

Bye

I think I read somewhere that there is a bug in the video card (gpu) driver for El Capitan. That may or may not be it, but to me sounds like a plausible cause. Especially since it's happening to multiple people on EC. There's even an Apple forum thread about this problem with HDR images. Hope they fix it soon.

The problem with preview and file info sounds like a pain. I actually rarely use preview or change folder icons. I'm unsure if it's related to the hdri issue, but is likely finder/OS X related.
I wouldn't be surprised if it gets fixed quietly in future updates of OS X.
Report back if you do get any of it sorted .

:) Thanks Martin, Swizl and Shift Studio.

It's good to hear that the HDRI issue isn't a big problem.
Future quiet fixes sound good to me.

Once before when I was having some preview problems among other issues my graphics card died.
Fortunately it was an issue with AMD and AMD replaced the card no charge . . .
however that probably isn't the problem here.

I found a work around the small issue I'm having with Preview.
I drag the folder from the desktop to the Documents folder then back to the desktop.
Magically the icon then appears correctly on the folder.

Do you think I should not put icons on the folders?
I know it takes up memory but it sure is a help to me to more easily locate files.

I doubt system resources are impacted in any significant way. So if you like it, you should do it.
